This digipack release serves the purpose of being both an collectors item (released in 1000 copies only) as well as a life-sign from the Withering Surface camp.
The material on "Ichor" consists of 2 previously unreleased tracks, "Superior Seed" and "The White Path", both leftovers from the Walking on Phantom Ice recording sessions. Why they didn't make it on the final album remains unknown to me, but the tracks are equally as great as the ones who did. So if you fancy the 'rocking melodic' "Walking..." album, this is reason enough to go and get "Ichor"
The next 2 tracks, "Forever Fragile" and "Fading Mask" originates from the sold out 7" titled Forever Fragile, released in 200 copies in 1999. The style here is more aggressive and more rooted in the blackmetallic side of the overexposed Swedish melodic (death)metal sound.
The final track "Whorebride" is a live recording from the Roskilde Festival in 1999, recorded by Norwegian NRK. The track is from the Nude Ballet CD. Nice track with an ok live sound.
In overall this is a nice release. To me the first 2 tracks definitly makes it worth an investment. - Claus Poulsen
