WINTER OF SIN was found in early 1998. In the beginnning there was a permanent changing of line-up.The current line-up is: D - guitar, R - guitar, M - drums, G - synthesizer, C - bass, W- vocals. The band is formed by musicians who already have demonstrated their skills in the Metal-scene. Some of the band members are (ex-) members of: Immortalized, Cantara, Katafalk, Obtuse, Pooier666 and As it Burns. All bands have played on Dutch and international stages a plenty of concerts! It's not surprising that the current line-up has produced a large amount of (demo-)CD's in the last few years. Most of the Winter of Sin members have been active since the 1980's.

WINTER OF SIN is translating the feeling from the North of the Netherlands in their music by combining furious black metal with melodic riffs and melancholic keyboard parts. During the songs, speed changes between devastating mid-tempo parts, dragging slow passages and furious hyperspeed! Influences of Winter of Sin are bands like Dark Throne, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Venom but also Abigor, Gorgoroth, Rotting Christ, Satyricon, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.

The lyrics are about all kind of things in life. The band in their own impressions: "We don't believe in Satan, we don't believe in god, hell we don't believe in you! Black metal as we live it is about things in everyday life and the blackness of the state of the world today. Our first album Hailstorm dealt with ancient times, but we thought: don't care about the ancient times! Our next album, Obscura, dealt with feelings, but we thought: don't care about feelings! Our latest epos Woest deals about me, you and NOW!!!! So forget this planet and this universe and hope for a better life hereafter...
