WALPURGISNACHT play black metal in the vein of early BURZUM, DARKTHRONE, MAYHEM and SATYRICON, but combine this with a very melancholic touch, which is expressed in the melodic style of guitar riffing. Inspiration for both music and lyrics is mainly drawn from some obscure Dutch legends and the (original) grim and gloomy quality of "De Peel", a once overwhelmingly large area of marshes, fens, moors and woods in the south of Holland. All this results in a unique style of its own.
