This was surprisingly really good... in the old Swedish death metal style, mid-90s, when it was all starting, with a fine sense of melody and harmonics. The song structures are predictable from a mile away but it doesn't distract from the quality, over all.

Ah the swedish style of death metal where have yee turned wrong? In an age where entombed are busying trying to make rock and roll, soilwork are busy trying to be the next mallcore rave, dismember is still great but never got that much recognition for there work which is a crime, at the gates disbanded and lets face it in flames lost it a while ago...it seems that this scene needs a bit of a rececitation i mean hypocrisy cant do it all themselves right? Violation while not from sweden make killer sewdish style melodic death metal that reminds me of the early part of in flames career and yeah a little dismember is in there too. What makes this album so great is the production, its clear and thick. The best part about this i think is the increadibly melacholic atmosphere provided which rivals some of the best black metal bands, i mean the songs are great by themnselves but i feel as though the keyboards really add something special to the music. The songs are fast sometimes, heavy at others and in general just good, but enough of my ranting buy it and find out for yourself.

Violation hails from Germania, 'Moonlight's Child' is their 2rd album to date, it was recorded in Abyss Studios, (Sweden) co-produced with Peter Tägtgren (a real sound-genious).. And he has created killer sound for Violation, which is heavy, yet clear. They play heavy DM style metal spiced with blackish touches (vocals mostly) and good 'ol intense trashing edge. The guitars and bass grind brutally, whereas the vocals deliver a deep bulldozing performance. This is how real DEATH METAL should sound like, I can imagine that when they play live, crowd will moshin' their heads off, as Violation can really create some killer tunes.. Also there are some laid-back atmospherics amidst the metal : acoustic guitars and synthworks.. An overview through the most memorable tracks : A Shattered Blind : Opening with an calm synth / acoustics intro, real trashin' mayhem shreds itself trough my speakers (reminding me of the Finnish Barathrum). New God Evolution : This is one brutal track, grind-trash with guttural vocals uttering sinister gospel of the Antichrist.. And an Evil-sounding riffing at the end, like an overture of the fallen Angels. I can recommend this to all death/trash metal fans, just remember play it out with maximum volume!!

Like an ongoing ritual sacrifice this band carve up their sweet sounding melodic chorus lines and agile riffs with slamming fast death metal in the American style. This vision of melodic metal is both Iron Maiden-styled classic heavy metal and a noisy vision of future. Lush and memorable pop melodies crown songs which build intensity in smaller elements peaking in fusion, then dissipating in sweeping oblivion. Highly cinematic and aligned toward inevitable deconstruction, this music is both romanticist and evocative of the death of all value in a modern age. Production: Clear and distinct. 1. A Shattered Blind (4:59) 2. Downfall (5:51) 3. Trapped in Chaos (4:46) 4. Path of Sorrow (2:12) 5. Nightshades (4:59) 6. Blood Flows Through the Haze of Time (4:49) 7. Mortal Divinity (3:27) 8. The Angelmaker (5:04) 9. New God Evolution (3:57)

Ahh good ol' Swedish Death Metal...from Germany (well it WAS recorded at Abyss Studios at any rate). A 6-piece group pumping out some seriously thrashy melodies, not unlike THE FORSAKEN, IN FLAMES or the almighty AT THE GATES. This is the 2nd release for these Germans, and the production is impressive. The vocals are neither heavy guttural, or a shriek, but a pleasant middle ground. Leads are powerful, and catchy as hell. Drumming pounds nicely along with the leads. Most songs cruise at blazing rates ("Nightshades", "New God Evolution"). Definitely some incredible shredding here. But no, they are not just playing Thrash. "Path Of Sorrow" is a slow, acoustic passage that slides very nicely amidst the carnage. Indeed, VIOLATION came to play. But they're not doing anything revolutionary. We all know this scene by now, I'm sure. But good is good, and VIOLATION are certainly a promising act. Only a few complaints/criticisms. "New God Evolution" concludes with a corny laugh by some demon I'm sure. Ya know, I think they ripped that sound off "Diablo" (the computer game). The songs can run together. But hey, if you like your Death Metal intense and with a coherent melody, check this out.

one of the best bands in recent years to hit the death metal scene. great from beginning to end. "moonlights` child" is whats best in a genre over run with clone bands that are stagnating the scene. i look forward to more releases from them.
