Unholy Grave - Crucified

  | CD

Unholy Grave-Crucified I only knew 2 or 3 EPs & splits before discovering "Crucified". But well, no amazing surprise, I noticed they do not change their style very much through the years... But here, it's a good point because the old school grindcore they perform is so lovely, intense and insane. They found their very own sound and personality and i think I'd always be able to recognize Unholy Grave between hundreds or thousands other bands. The very particular extreme vocals range from low-pitched doggy-growls, to piercing, very high-pitched shrieks. Sound production is clear, but not over-the-top powerful; anyway they don't need a powerful sound! Their own energy and grinding essense is enough to rip off your face! And brutally break your skull in two by the way! Guitars have a nice raw vibe, and provide real catchy & thrashy riffs... Of course, I don't think you can say this is a PURE grindcore band (to me pure grindcore is Napalm Death on F.E.T.O. They invented the term so they are the reference in the matter!) Unholy Grave bring many crusty and noise influences into their composition. They are always violently intense, at 200 percent, ONLY playing for the sake of brutalizing people's ears! Lyrics are "socially aware" and honestly of great interesting. Simple but very well-written. To close this review, all these 16 tracks should satisfy anyone interested in true mince/grindcore/noisy/crust underground sounds. -The Goregrind and Grindcore Webszine
