This is easily one of thee greatest top modern Black Metal releases ever!!! "Apocalyptic Mechanical Black Metal", would be a better way of describing it's cold futuristic sound, as opposed to an incorrect "Industrial" tag. At times swirling like molten lava and at other times howling like an ice cold northern wind...Snorre Ruch has crafted a true work of supreme misanthropic blackenned art. Highly recommended for fans of Keep Of Kalessin, Satyricon,Disiplin,Khold,Mayhem,Emperor,Mysticum,Aborym and Cadaver Inc. With the co-operation of Satyr,Aldrahn and Hellhammer...Snorre has unleashed some of the most brilliantly executed ideas ever recorded in the history of Black Metal. Hellhammer's drumming is fantastic and as excellent as can be expected: very well suited to the music! Satyr and Aldrahn alternate vox,which gives the album some balanced diversity. In general,THORNS have a "spacey" sound and feel, which in some ways put them in the Arcturus/Dodheimsgard avante-garde category...but the brutality and consistency in sound is straight forward BM in a modern "Rebel Extravaganza" Satyricon type style(production sound wise). With a record this original and this powerfull, it's a real shame there arent any other THORNS records released as of yet,it's 2006 and there is news that Snorre is working on getting the next album out sometime in the near future!!! In the mean time do yourself a favour and pick up this superior release! The THORNS vs.EMPEROR album doesn't compare to this album in magnitude and scope as it's got more of a remix/electronic feel to it...however you may find other excellent relics of THORNS past on these fine releases: "MOONFOG 2000:A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE";"NORDIC METAL:A TRIBUTE TO EURONYMOUS" and "THORNS vs.EMPEROR" (of course) and check out the bonus track Snorre did w/Satyr,"Storm(Of the Destroyer)on the U.S.version of the brand new SATYRICON album "NOW,DIABOLICAL!" Hail THORNS Elite BM !!!
