| Films known abroad as "gialli" are called thrilling or simply "thriller" in Italy, the first term usually referring to Italian 1970s classics by directors like Dario Argento or Mario Bava.- Wikipedia.com Black gloved killers, first-person camera angles, car and foot chases, creaking doors, silhouettes, booming music… All trademarks of a genre rabidly devoured by legions of fans across the globe. Establishing its foothold by manifesting on shelves in independent video stores during the rise of VHS in the 80s, the enormous success of the DVD market also lent a hand to proliferation of the genre, with films remastered and loaded with extras fans crave. Here is a rather quaint release of eight tracks and seven demo tracks paying tribute to all things analog keyboard and open reel. Wonderfully schlocky artwork and photos adorn the presentation also. It definitely makes you want to put on a fake greasy mustache and a gray sports coat and run down dark alleys holding up a revolver. Just pray your aim is good when the headlights of that El Camino up ahead turn on and it comes screeching towards you! | A must have CD for fans of '70s Italian horror/Giallo movies! Very reminiscent of the legendary band Goblin (if you've never heard them, think very dark prog rock) as well as frequent Lucio Fulci collaborator Fabio Frizi. The music is at times very dark, but also very funky. It sounds like some lost soundtrack to a '70s Dario Argento flick. Buy it now! |
