Damn, this debut release is absolutely brutal. There are two aspects I like a lot about the sound of Textures. First, the use of the fantastic Pantera riffs. Simple but effective. Second, the use of clean vocals that doesn't sound cheesy at all and make the songs more diverse. The clean harmonic vocals fit the music a bit better, the shrill screaming vocals sound a bit distant to the music, but I think that also has something to do with the production. Despite this aspect I can't absolutely think why you shouldn't check out Textures. I totally love the melodic and harmonic elements in the sound of Textures. The mix of heavy Pantera riffs with harmonic metallic At The Gates Riffs is a pleasure to the ears. The total sound of Textures is very diverse; they don't limit themselves to certain styles. This is for sure on of the most promising metal band from the Netherlands and maybe from entire Europe. It would surprise me if this won't lead to a major breakthrough in the world wide metal scene. Just get your hands on this baby and enjoy.
