Testament - Practice What You Preach

  | CD

Testament-Practice What You Preach With the wave of Bay Area thrash bands reaching flood-level proportions, it's a relief to hear an S.F. band who can rise above the deluge of look/sound-alikes and put out a record with its own distinctive personality. In the two years since The Legacy first assaulted the airwaves, Testament has played literally hundreds of shows, and their level of professionalism and songwriting ability has matured so far that Practice leaves both of their previous records in the dust. Oddly, the band's Metallica influence is more prominent than ever on a couple of tracks, but for the most part, Testament is continuing to craft their own sound: Chuck Billy's gutteral roar and the band's amazingly tight and grinding grooves will lay waste to your audience. Picks: "Perilous Nation," "Sins Of Omission," "Blessed In Contempt" and, of course, the title track.
