Shadows Fall effectively mixes various styles into their musical approach, resulting in a good - if not necessarily unique - listening experience. The band falls for the most part under the "melodic death metal" genre. There are mixed vocals-sometimes of the shout/death variety, sometimes clean. The aggressive music reminds of In Flames and 'Demonic'-era Testament, as the chords are blended with notes throughout - Ultimate Metal Reviews
