| Shadowlord : " Scourge of Heaven" - Nederland Black Metal band. This album is a revelation in the Black Metal world and will certainly move the masses as this is one of the best album I have heard since Urshurak (italian revelation). The difference between those two bands are the creations as Shadowlord has more feeling and melodies and Urshurak is more into aggressivity but both are for me the new Black Metal futur and this prooves once more that Underground bands are the futur!!! This album is like a receipt, take Cradle of Filfth + Dark Funeral + Dimmu Borgir + a bit of progressive and Gothic. Mix them & you will get Shadowlord!!! A beautiful masterpiece!!! Available straight from their website on the links page (click on the "S" of the top frame) so get this CD if you are a true Black Metal fan!!! read the interview in the mag#3 Metalzone 666 |

| Klokradio NL. Shadowlord (NL)-Scourge of heaven CD (self released 2002) 46.50 This is Shadowlord’s second album after their 2001 “Shadowlord empire” MCD. I must say I’m very impressed by this new album and I feel sorry that I never heard their MCD. Basically the band plays melodic black metal in the vein of Satyricon and Dimmu Borgir combined with some death and power metal influences. Also a lot of interludes and intros can be heard and this all together makes a very professional impression. The albums seems to be divided in 3 parts and being a concept album but unfortunately there’s nothing about that on the site www.shadowlord.nl and also the lyrics didn’t give me a clu (but maybe I overlooked). Very strong album à 8,6 |

| Hailing from the Netherlands, Scourge of Heaven" is the second release from melodic Death 7-piece [!] Shadowlord. Having weathered several line-up changes since their formation in 1995, the band`s latest offering is a triumph, both in terms of composition AND production, all the more remarkable considering this is very much a "do-it-yourself" project and NOT bankrolled by a major label! Featuring both male and female vocals, as well as keyboards as a prominent instrument, Shadowlord`s style could be categorized as high velocity, melodic/symphonic black metal that combines modern Black/Death metal with some gothic [not "Goth"] overtones. But unlike many other bands mining the same dark territory, Shadowlord knows the value of creating a mood, not just being fast and brutal for it`s own sake. "Scourge of Heaven" features plenty of speed, power and death to satisfy the blackest Metal heart, yet at the same time has an uncanny knack for writing songs that are at once dark, powerful, and heavy, with beautiful, haunting passages that blend in perfectly with the brutal stuff flawlessly; not an easy thing to do! Each song flows seamlessly into the next, a sure sign that great care was take in the song-writing process. The band is tight as hell, and the individual musicianship is highly skilled in their art, and know when to cut loose and when to hold back. Expect to hear great things from this group!
