| SARCOPHAGUS unleashed this album back in the day in 1995 to a very hardcore black metal audience. With the simple fact that this album was blackened death, it was shunned by most of the community, with very few understand it, or liking it. Well, Blood Fire Death Records and Red Stream Records have finally unearthed this relic of a CD, and have re-released it to the public with some brand new artwork, and a few bonus tracks. Now many people don't like change in the black metal community, but I say bring it on. This band is definately a change from the ordinary you would hear on just about every CD. Most of the album sounds like traditional black metal, but you can easily pin-point some death metal features in it, like the vocals on the openning track "Godless", and continuing on through. And the four bonus tracks on here aren't too bad either. From haunting chants in the beginning, to the sound of a haunting organ at the end to introduce the final song of the day, they are definately, alone, worth checking out. I must also admit, the clarity on this is pretty good, considering it was originally released in 1995, however the bonus tracks, which were recorded in 1998, are a little off with the clarity of the sound, but that doesn't matter. Hey, they were free, get over it! But in any case, the album is definately one that needs to purchased and added to your library. The album has been around for years, and obviously it's gaining in popularity if it's being re-released. Trust me, this isn't quite you average black metal record. It's a little something different, so trust me, check it out! |
