SAMMATH - VERWOESTING/DEVASTATION (FOLTER) 'Strijd', the first full length of this Dutch mysterious one-man black metal act with natively sung lyrics, caused quite some motion in the underground scene! With its follow-up, 'Verwoesting/Devastion', SAMMATH takes of where he left, persevering with dark and extreme primitive furious black metal, accompanied by hysterical nihilistic lyrics, this time presented in English for optimal destruction! Raging and obscure!

Unfortunately I’m not familiar with Sammath’s previous album "Strijd" but listening to this "Devastation" album I’m anxious to buy it. 42 minutes of brutal black/death metal can be found on this second album and despite the use of a drum computer the album sounds very professional. You hardly can’t hear that Sammath’s main man Jan Kruitwagen has played almost all instruments (only for the death grunts he called for help). As said the music is very brutal and powerful and reminds me a lot of Burzum’s "Filosofem" album (guitar sound and riffs) combined with Dark Funeral and Benediction influences and also another one man project like Solarisis ("The world is made of tofu" album) is a kind of reference. All songs are very well written and are impressive, even in this overloading market, but I wouldn’t have cared if he had left Kreator’s "Tormentor" behind (too chaotic, strange guitar sound related to the other instruments). Nevertheless a strong album. More info: www.sammath.nl à 8,5
