Ruins is a post modern black metal band that mixes the classic Norwegian sound but glosses it with a horrifically heavy production that oozes menace and sonic evil. Considering their style it'ss considerably more controlled and paced than most black metal, the overall ambiance is oppressive and unnerving. Not simply relying on frozen blastbeats to carry their sound, the resonant production is used to also highlight slow, pulsing and skittish moments of grimness not to far removed from Nazgul. -Erik Thomas
