Nice, gatefold LP version! Finland's most intense musical offenders, Rotten Sound embrace the extremity of traditional Grindcore and infuse it with a fierce vitality that is uniquely their own. Propelled by the inhuman drumming of Kai Hahto, arguably the most tastefully abusive percussionist in the entire Extreme Metal field, the band's buzz-saw riffs and throaty, exhausting vocals create a whirlwind of precise and violent sound that is definitely a breath of fresh air in the genre. "Murderworks" showcases this confidence and power in a devastating display of single-minded aggression. The anger is tempered with a cynical, biting intelligence, both lyrically and musically. Rotten Sound's considerable musical ability is evident on the first listen, and it becomes clear that this is not simply gratuitous extremity- this is a calculated, premeditated assault on the listener, and on the boundaries of music itself. Blindingly over the top, this album offers no place for the listener to find shelter, no respite from the homicidal intentions of the musicians involved.
