Red Harvest - There's Beauty in the Purity of Sadness
|
CD

Bloody good album this one. 'Wounds' kicks of the assault with a pounding, thrash metal attack. Pounding bass, and really good everything else on this track. Fuck knows what 'Lore me down' means but it sound really good.
'Naked' follows and rocks hard, but it's a bit more subtle than Wounds. The verse is fairly gentle and this track goes to different places.
'Resist' shows Red Harvest innovation as this sounds different. Its not heavy at all, in places it's fast but it still isn't heavy. All sorts of things thrown into this track and the result is cool, excellent guitar work and a rock track referring to sheep! I like it.
'Mindblazt' blasts heavy back into the album as the bass kicks back in big time, and again this track has a lot going for it. Drugs must have played a big part in writing / recording this one as its as trippy as hell. 'Let's take a taxi to the sky' I just love that lyric.
'Mastodome' builds and batters its way into your skull. Lyrically this one ain't much, though 'Seek for heaven within yourself' is a cool line, but this track is all about the noise. This is a slow, grinding, powerful, huge beast of a track. One of my favourites on the album and perfect for playing loud.
If the last track slowed you down then 'Shivers' fires you right back up. Good lyrics, good sound, this one races by very nicely.
The next track is simply titled '[?]' and with good reason. Fuck knows what is going on here, drugs again by the sound of it and lots of them. A surreal, weird, minute and a half of playing with effects pedals and studio equipment this one.
'Mother Of All' the opening line is superb 'True hell is walking in a blind mans world with open eyes' A track about our dying planet, and a bloody good one at that.
'a.b.g.l.e.a.k.' on the sleeve, which I'm told stands for alfa, beta, gamma leak. Acoustic guitars on a Red Harvest track, not something you hear too often - if at all - on other RH tracks. A different take on the nuclear apocalypse this one, and in a way a warm up for the final track on the album.
'Sadness' one line for the lyrics and what a line it is 'There's beauty in the purity of sadness' Absolutely fucking awesome track this one, and if you see them live pray this one is on the set list as it is stunning live.
'The Art Of Radiation' rounds things off with some seriously weird lyrics about radiation, check them out. Again the music is top notch on this long track. It slows right down to rebuild for a suitable finish to such a good album.
