This technologically advanced, Swedish trio known as Plutonium has accepted the fact that if they are going to use a drum machine, they might as well embrace other electronic elements as well. With interesting vocal effects and a cold guitar sound ala Thorns and Satyricon, the industrial vibe arises from all 4 songs (3 full tracks and an outro) like the heartless wash of white noise coming to erase your memory banks so that you may not notice the similarities. Even the vocal style and actual phrasing of the lyrics points to Satyr worship to the point where one begins to wonder if maybe he did have a hand in helping this band get off their feet with some guest appearances. Knowing this isn't the case, I tried to look past the idolatry and let the music Plutonium have created take me to that world where man battles android in true Blade Runner fashion. The cold push of their music is the big sell for Plutonium, even though fans of Thorns will write this band off as a second rate clone, and I really found some interestingly passionate guitar harmonies drifting out of the ultimately hook dominant songwriting. The main guitar lines tend to be quite punchy, using odd start/stop accents as on "World Wide Vulture", only to cascade back into dissonant chording that holds onto just enough of a strain of melody, for various guitar lines to come in over the top of everything. Sure the overall sound is indeed thin, but the songwriting is forward thinking enough to combat a thin drum sound and the fact that Plutonium borrowed a lot of their tricks from the 2 aforementioned bands earlier in this review. Regardless of their influences, the 4 song "Wind of Change" is an adventurous beginning from a band that simply stands to evolve into something that will be even more challenging as they continue onward and become comfortable in their second skin of biomechanical technology. - Marty (WORMGEAR)
