The latest Penitent album "Songs of Despair", released the past year, has just surprised so much both the press and the usual Penitent audience, since it was so full of Darkwave, Gothic Doom Metal and Theatrical elements so far from what Karsten has composed in the past. In spite of this, the album was felt as a positive surprise (we just remember upon all the enthusiastic review of Orkus Magazine, 9/10). Now Karsten turns back to us with his new album and we like to define it in the way the artist himself like to do: a journey back to the old sonorities. Yes, "Deserted Dreams" is a new step of Penitent inside the deep lines of music and ego. A release totally devoted to the past sounds (in the vein of his very first releases on Cold Meat and Draenor/Napalm), but with a new majestic and poetic visions of the ethereal world...
