Gene Palubicki(formerly of Angel Corpse) was cool enough to send these two releases from his label for review here at Unhallowed. First up, Ophiolatry. You'll remember them from Relapse's "Brazilian Assault" compilation released a while back, and things haven't changed much. The band is still rockin' the Krisiun/Morbid Angel style death metal of their Brazilan counterparts like Nepasth and Mental Horror, albeit a bit better than those two. Reign of Terror(from the US) also indulge in a little idol worship of their own, this time fellow American death stalwarts Incantation. "Threnody of the Impaled" is an overall improvement from their demo "Sado-Sodomite Communtion", especially in the drumming, which I felt was the main weak point. Lots of samples, and a whole bunch of "chug 'n sqeak" action goin' on here... -Unhallowed
