Man oh man, they just don't make 'em like this anymore. The debut CD from Obeisance reeks of metal perfection from beginning to end. This disk is chock full of some of the most satisfying and skull-crushing songs ever to grace a CD player. Obeisance could be described as very old-school black metal before the style progressed into the Norwayish forest chants and symphonic blasphemy of today. Remember the masters of that genre? Sarcofago, Blasphemy, Beherit, Mystifier and Von all come to mind as the forerunners of that once dominating and compelling black metal era. You can now insert Obeisance right in-between those masters because they don't disappoint to bring back that feeling of fire, ashes and brimstone flying through your mind. They are gritty, dirty and above all, brutal as nails in their approach. This is fast as fuck metal that will not stop until you are dead. After the first song, every single one that follows is a relentless journey through hell and torment. I very much admire how well they are able to hold a melody of terror throughout a song. It is that background haunting melody that keep these tracks all interesting and catchy as hell. (Morbid Angel is known for this style). Lyrics are straight up terrifying and balls-out hellish-themed and go perfectly hand in hand with the sound. The retro-styled vocals only add to this complete package of metal glory. Every fucking song rips, but I liked "Infinitely Diabolic", "The Hound II", and "I'm the Tyranny of Evil Men" the most of all. I would also like to add that "Scorched Earth: Hellbent on Slaughter" is an instant classic for years to come because it is one of those songs that is brutal, but forces you to sing along with it...that is classic. Also, "Per Adonai Eloim" does its best impression of Von's classic "Satanic Blood" in its never stopping power approach from start to finish. This song just does not let you rest for a second. Great fucking job guys!!!!!!!!!I am fucking sick of people who were metal warriors back in this special era of black metal and now all of a sudden they are too old to still like it. Nobody ever out-grows this shit. It will be in your heart forever if you were and still are a true metal warrior!! This kind of CD is for true metal warriors only. So to Obeisance I say..........."Horns Up!!" you fuckers fucking rule!!!!!!!!!!
