MISANTHROPE is a French band that were started in 1988 by Philippe Courtois De L´Argiliere. They play very dark, moody and well, misanthropic Metal. ;) More accurately they started out as Doomy Death Metal and slowly progressed to more of a symphonic, avant garde style. They released two demos before the first five song split CD with Chilean band TORTURER and since then they have released a multitude of albums, standing amongst the elite of Avant Garde Metal bands. Other similar bands: NIGHTFALL, CELESTIAL SEASON.
