Lacks the depth of previous releases, but is still a good album. Really "punchy" sounding. The Veltet Underground cover totally fucking sucks... though I think most black metal fans aren't interested in the Velvets anyways and wouldn't notice the big difference that does in fact exist. Actually, I consider it the worst cover song I've ever heard.

Produced By: Krieg Tracks: 1- Deconstructing the Eternal Tombs, 2- Deviant, 3- Nemesis, 4- Fleshprison Monolith, 5- Fallen Princes of Slightless Visions, 7- Sickening Voices without Speech, 8- Ruin Under a Burning Sky, 9-...Without Light, 10- Murder Without the burden of Conscience, 11- Venus in Furs, 12- Rooms Recorded at Winterblut Studios One of the darkest releases ofthta we are reviewing this month. And at the same time this is a really aggressive release too. This is darker than hell black metal with many fast moments but whose main feature is the dark feeling that surround each of the compositions here. There are plenty of blast beats here and interesting ride cymbal work by this drummer called Thron. And the vocals are really anguished ones full of aggression and black feelings. I have to remark the direct and good sound that this recording has making each compositions sound brutal, specially on the guitars thata re spitting fast riffs all the time taking you to the darkest of lands (a killer artwork fits perfectly the mood of the music here. This is a really dark release that I would recommend to any black metl lover. Favorite tracks: "Nemesis", "Sickening voices..." and "Ruin..."

Krieg "The black House" cd 2004 (USA) Usually the AUDIAL horror that KRIEG causes, well. It makes it unusual that I can listen to it, as I’m usually hung over, or too drunk to remember.. however, THIS FUCKING KILLZ. OUTRIGHT. Like with Big Clubs on Soft Flesh. Upside pupper Everywhere. Baby Seals. Dolphins – everything that green piece (of shit) wants to save – THIS SLAUGHTERS. I cannot believe how fuggin' close to some of the harsher (in my opinion) older Finnish HORNA or even a bit of the DEBAUCHERY mcd is in here.. fuck. The first song alone, "deconstructing the eternal tombs", is basically an instrumental, but hell, it definitely sets the tone of melodic razor Flesh Forward... "A Process of DYING" – holy fuck, where’d he pull this out of... the ongoing emtional forward/blood high, kinda like after you’ve killed yer wife, kids, neighbors, neighbords' annoying pet poodle and cats, and yer still being pushed forward – that's what this instrumental sounds like.. the vocals this time are again varied – sometimes digressing just into what it sound like is just screeching as loud as can be, other times, a lot more control and precision, that really shows progress in my ears then just yellin' as loud as you can (which is what I was used to about 4 years ago when I saw this bloke play in satan tonio..).. the drummer is a speed machine, especially in "Ruin under a burning sky", I mean who the fuck gave this guy machine guns to fire off salvo after salvo – damn feller goes by the monicker of Thron, should be M2HB-.50 cal.. xrist unmighty – but hey kiddos, this aint all speed. .. the drumming, and the emotional drain come from the more melodic slow passages that interlude most of the songs, in the most vile of ways.. you shall be dragged, down, to a point of despondence, only to be shot into little, iddy bitty titty pieces by a vile burst of anger and speed.. I'm very impressed with both song structure and maturity.. if KRIEG can pull this shit off live (they have a tendency of using many, many different musicians), I'm more then wanting to kill many, many persons to see this.. and to you bastards that have seen them, well. You potentially suck. Especially if you haven't "killed yourself and somebody you love" heh... The throes of pain, from backing, hollow vocals, give the impression of eyeless hordes of followers, betrayed into thinking that there was salvation in hell – no such fuggin' luck kiddos – there is no better place, no salvation. "fallen princes of sightless visions" and "...thout light" have these hollow, pissing, creatures uttering backing vocals that will remind you of the sewage you see on the street.. Not the True Evil Kvlt (pronounced Ka-Vault, I'm sure) Forests, where hand axes rule the most dangerous squirrels (only forests that held danger were in evil dead. Sorry)… aint throwin' no punches here. This is downright necessary material. And how many times have I led the WMS flock astray (into withering, police SWAT gunfire)t then. Cocking hammers back on the AKs and let us make war, most horrid, painful, IED (improved explosive devices), RPG (upside the heads of unsuspecting civilian) launching W. A. R. www.redstream.org.

Possibly the best black metal album of the year next to the new Watain and Deathspell Omega! Krieg capture a different aura this time than their previous outings, which were rather sub par. But this release is simply great, a must hear!

I give this 8/10. 1 point deducted for venus in furs cover, which is pointless and adds nothing to the original, and another point for the occasional loud vocal mix which detracts from the consistency, which is what simplistic black metal is supposed to be - almost ambient. Other than that this is an excellent black metal release and shows Krieg maturing nicely. My favourite track is 'Without Light'. Buy this if you like good atmospheric primitive black metal.

Different approach for the band. Very dark and traumatizing. One of their best releases!

Unrelenting in its sinister and bleak atmospherics. Truly merciless. Kreig's 'The Black House' is probably the best release I've bought this year. Perfect for a dark night... *lights off* By the way, I am a girl who adores Black Metal. Since when has Metal been segregated into one's gender?

| I'm just about to pick up Krieg's The Black House. But I have something I'd like to say - I think Black metal is just for boys obviously. I think Death Metal is for girls - like me! I have a Death metal -Polish White Supremist Death metal band in the works. Stay tuned. This CD sounds terriffyingly terriffic! I'll listen with the lights on! cuz I'm NOT a boy. Thanks. | Dark and minimalistic, often simple but surprisingly creative. Track 6, "A Process of Dying," is an instrumental track that boasts a strong show of musicianship. Imperial's vocals are disturbingly cold and harsh, and reflect a deeply personal album which is perhaps best listened to while alone in a quiet place. If ever there was an album to simultaneously exude anger, hope, and despair, this is it. The true essence of the Aryan spirit is evident in this recording and its grim, subliminal melodies. |

Best Fucking release from KRIEG in a long time(my fucking opinion) buy it or FUCK OFF!!!
2004-03-18 : THY GRIMMNESS
A quality new release from this US horde. KRIEG have opted to drop their ultra-noisey approach for "The Black House" and go for a more riffy, pumelling sound. Fans of Judas Isacriot and Darkthrone should really take note of this album. However - this isn't to say that KRIEG sound safer on this release - they still have that explosive edge - particular noticable in Imperial's vokills this time round - absolutely shredding. Dieheard KRIEG masochists may lavel this a "sell out" or whatever - but fuck - we already have "The Church" and "Destruction Ritual" - we don't need them again. For me, KRIEG have really prove what they are capable on this release - and I urge you to hear this for yourselves. Long may they continue - TOTALLEN KRIEG!

Krieg's last full-length, "Destruction Ritual",was physically painful to listen to (in a good way). "The Black House" is psychologically painful to listen to. Haunting, tormented and subtly insane "The Black House" also features audible guitar lines and bass as well! Though 2004 is still young, "The Black House" gets my vote for album of the year.10/10

Good to hear Krieg sounding like an actual band, even if this album lacks the killer treble blare of 'Destruction Ritual'. The Velvets cover may not add much to the original besides Imperial's throat, but it's an interesting change of mood. What's next, 'Black Metal Machine Music'?
