This album is pretty weird, in that it's the first old school Death Metal album I had aquired that feels almost "mellow" at times. I am not saying it's bad, because the music feels inspired, but it's just not raging, nor is it manic. The guitar tones are pretty subdude...they don't use a lot of distortion. There for there is a lot space in the recording, where you can really hear the drums clearly. That is the best part of this whole disk, I think...the drum playing. The vocals are traditional growls, but there is a somber feel to them...Almost like if they were more doing a Doom metal type of thing, rather than Death Metal. The riffs are killer. Nothing inovative and unique, but more like a pure 80's style homage to thrash and early Death Metal. Sometimes they are so simple at times, but because they have the right feel, they are great to listen to. With every one trying to be super complicated and technical, and trying to play fast every second they can it's almost a refreshing look back at how metal use to rock out at times, rather than be this music for those with ADD. My only complaint about this album is that they tend to keep a riff going just a little too long in a song. Just a little bit, but then they will switch and keep the song interesting.

So I would give it a 7 out of 10, because the feeling is very strong...dark, somber old school Death Metal.
