Hate-filled. Misanthropic. Occult. Evil.
All adjectives probably well overused to describe Black Metal…but damned if I could come up with anything better to describe this offering from these USBM terrorist cells.

The disc begins with Hellgoat, a solo project of Amon Demogorgon (who also serves as drummer for LoA). These four tracks are definitely the rawer of the two, but in no way should that be mistaken as substandard. This is pure black metal war. Amon proves a knowledge for the genre well beyond his years. All four of these track are fire blasts of hatred. I had the honor of witnessing Hellgoat (with session members) live recently and I have to mention…no recording can capture the fearsomeness of this horde in the flesh. Amon also the force behind Lament Configuration, who I also highly recommend if you can find it.

Ending the split are 4 tracks from Legions of Astaroth and serves as a sort of second demo for the band. Present for this offering were Amon Demogorgon – Drums, Lord Nija Demogorgon – Vocals and Karnivean Oxex Doalim - Guitar and Bass. LoA has the ability to leave blisters in your ear canals and then slow things down to a romp and back again. These four tracks take me back to the early days of BM, sometimes thrashy..always evil. "Sabbat Of The Waning Moon" is probably my favorite off the whole disc.

Hopefully, this will be one among many releases from these young warriors. It does my black heart good to cross paths with those who do what they do with strength of will, support the scene with both word and deed…and understand the difference between cult and "kvlt".
