Hate Forest is one my favorite bands, this album is different but still a must. They diserve alot of praise and are a band to keep an eye on! Hails to those who are not afraid to defend their Aryan heritage! 88!

Finally this album from the Ukranian black metal warriors is amongst us, so let's not waste time and get on with it. Taking their obvious fascination with nature (which was very evident in their "Scythia" and "Ritual" Ep's to their ultimate conclusion. "The Gates" consists of two tracks. The first is almost 20 minutes long and is nothing more than cold howling wind, a crackling fire and the faint constant drone of a synth along with other muffled, obscure noises. The second song starts with a Burzumesque riff that repeats itself for 8 minutes then fades it a hearbeat, constantly changing BPM and lasts for another 6 minutes. What can I say to that? You will either love it or hate it. Those of you who fully appreciate what Hate Forest are all about and trying to accomplish will hopefully understand this. Perfect to listen to on a cold, dark, winter night with the headphones on transporting you away from this miserable world. Recommneded but don't say I didn't warn you.

I got this album because I had listened to Hate Forest's other albums, and I really liked their music (and because I like what they stand for). However, this album was an extreme disappointment for me. It is only two songs long. "Where the Flame is Eternal" is just 19 minutes of wind noises and burning sounds--no music, no melody, nothing. It is the same exact sound (which is only really 10 seconds long), being repeated over and over again. "In Cold Empty Darkness" is good for the first few minutes (it sounds a lot like Burzum's "Filosofem,"but without any vocals), but it fades out after a few minutes to just a heart beat that lasts for about 6 minutes. This album is horrible. I'm surprised that Hate Forest had the nerve to release this cheap excuse for an album. In fact, I propose that all copies of this album be burned (that is how horrible and a waste of funds it is). RAHOWA!
