Halomachine - Sonic Sacrifice

  | mCDr

Halomachine-Sonic Sacrifice Judging by the three songs comprising Sonic Sacrifice, HALOMACHINE are a fusion of death metal and power metal. The Ohio band recording their songs on a home computer; the official title for this release is a demo but the sound is somewhat more of a rehearsal, complete with noises of instruments getting ready to play. While recording the band kicked up the heaviness in the guitars that gave everything a similar dark, dirty feeling that MEDIEVAL brought to their debut EP on New Renaissance. In simple terms, this recording is very old school; the other band that kept coming to mind while I listened to a lot of the verse and chorus progressions was VENOM, especially where the drum programming was concerned, although in the first couple of songs the music becomes overly repetitive and would have sounded better if more parts were added and there was a live drummer. The vocals have their moments, but likewise could have done more consistent justice to the guitars without covering too much ground at once. Despite its flaws, Sonic Sacrifice is still the band's first release, so better things may be on the way. The band's current email is aparrish@neo.rr.com
