All being professional musicians GRIFFIN didn't record many demos and aimed directly for a record deal. In April 2000 the band entered Sweden's Studiomega to record their debut album 'Wasteland Serenades' for Season of Mist.

Their music can for the most part be described as a mix of TESTAMENT, ANATHEMA and DEVIN TOWNSEND, while a few "nostalgia songs" are just a 100% NWOBHM!
