Released earlier this year under Dutch label Hammerheart Records , this album features The Gathering's early days as a death metal band with former vocalist Bart . 'Downfall' features material from the band's first rehearsal demo - 'Moonlight Archer' , their second demo - 'An Imaginary Symphony' , & an unreleased 7-inch containing 3 tracks which were later featured on a DSFA sampler . The Gathering however created something which was totally unheard of back then in the scene - they blended elements of doom together with death & thus the rest shall we say - is history . One can hear the occasional influence of Celtic Frost & Nocturnus (keyboards) on this release but overall it was still a new trend & one which would lead them on an uncertain path .
