Enclave-Paradise of Putrefaction Vampire-magazine.com - Yulon Zhu, Netherlands ---Poland's Enclave unleashes a writhing black metal hell-beast with debut album "Paradise Of Putrefaction," through Inferna Profundus Records. With "furious black metal hymns with mystic keyboard atmospheres," as stated in a press release, Enclave play brilliantly and create a grand atmosphere. Firing with full rounds of black metal artillery from the very start, "The Last Ray Of Light" begins with majestic keyboarding, courtesy of keyboardist Damien and menacing, echoing guitars by way of axe-wielding twosome Behdeth and Morduat. The song plays like a black hole sucking you in to the abysmal world that is Enclave. In the end, you are vomited out of the theoretical mass to reflect on the reasons as to why they'd end with a minute or so long of soft, boring keyboarding, spoiling the moment. It proves to be a minor flaw in the scheme of things, though. Nevertheless, they kick it back into gear on the next track "Your Weakness- My Victory," as the drumming of Priest comes stampeding from the shadows, along with the brain pounding bass lines of Pigs Count OBLIVION IV. This adds a battery of power to the music. Title track "Paradise Of Putrefaction" is a masterfully bone-crushing, throat cutting, raw, black metal incarnation. The short and unearthly trance of a song "Eclipse Of Salvation," uneasily follows. I don't like those "songs" that bands put on albums that seem to consist of little to no music, but consist of either strange noises, creepy voices, weird sounds or a combination of them, so I didn't see purpose in "Eclipse Of Salvation." Good thing that wasn't the last bit as Enclave do not bring this album to climax in distaste. Xulchilbara's Will and his deranged vocalizations eerily complement the music on ending track "Ancient Knowledge." There is a groove about a minute and a half in. Good stuff. This is atmospheric lunacy for underground black metal fans. If their further releases are as good as "Paradise of Putrefaction," then Enclave is without question, a band to look out for.
