Melodic, mystic and medieval. 'Son of the Shades' is the second release following 1998s 'Into the Dark Forest'. The whole album is epic. It has everything you could want in Black Ambient Metal. The vast atmospherics created by chanting, male choirs, saturated riffing, synths, orchestral passages are combined with Black Metal vocals add to create a very bleak yet spiritual soundscape. I'd highly recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of Wongraven, Mortiis, Endura, Neptune Towers, Burzum, Abruptum, Aghast, Vond etc.
