Back in the end of '99, guitarist Mikael Eriksson and singer Mikael Widmark formed Demons of Dirt, at that time known as Engraved. In the course of 2000 Pontus Jonsson (bass) and Magnus Olsson (drums) joined them in order to complete the line-up and the name was changed to Demons of Dirt, and a demo was recorded at Rockhuset, Borlänge.
Because of the success of the first demo, a second three track demo was also soon recorded at Courthouse Studios in Östersund. This demo was recorded in two days. Compared to the first demo the standard was a lot higher, building an expectation for a possible record deal. Both demo 1 and 2 were put together on a promo-CD, making a seven song demo.
After being printed, covered and sent away to various labels, magazines etc. an e-mail from record label Voices of Death dropped in wanting Demons of Dirt to appear on their upcoming compilation "Voices of Death III" which was agreed. Gothenburg stationed label Downfall Records also e-mailed about putting out a record on their behalf.
The answer however, was no, because a bigger more promising laabel was also interested. The cheers and beers raised high up in the sky when mother label Hammerheart Records offered a big tittie to suck on. Four new songs were almost done and the possibility for a fullength album was rising.
The satisfaction of the recording at Courthouse Studios became the ultimate reason why the same studio got the job and was booked in the summer of 2001. The outcome is an album that combines the modern Swedish extreme metal approach with an altogether more grooving American style. Demons of Dirt are ready to roll... Be warned!
