Holy hell is this heavy! The bass on this album will make your head explode. Sick fucking vocals that sound as if Ixthira was coughing up blood as he puked out his wrecked hateful vocals. I do have one small complaint. The album gets extremely boring (for me) after a while, but this is a small thing. Buy this now!!

I failed to mention to seemingly obvious Beherit / Von / Blasphemy / Archgoat influences, as well...

I've been listening to metal since the early-mid 80s. I've also always sought out the most extreme...fastest, heaviest, sickest vox, etc... I've listened to my fair share of metal in my day, but holy...fucking....shit..... I literally did a double-take to make sure the disk was spinning at the proper speed. I thought it might've been going too slow b/c of how unimaginably heavy this recording is. I've heard Demoncy's whole released catalog, including the newest album, and I can easily say "Joined In Darkness" has all of them beat by a wide margin. Hell, this beats 95% of all blackmetal I've heard by a wide margin. It's not the fastest thing in the world, but that's not the point. What this release did was something new. It combined Darkthrone with the heaviness of a fucking neutron star with vocals that sound like Gollum from LOTR doing his best Carcass vox impression. "Joined..." exudes evil... It should've been shipped in a Ziploc, b/c the evil is just fucking all over the place! How this CD is only $6 and still available will remain a mystery for eternity. For the love of Dog...you've got all the classics, but you don't have this? And you call yourself "true"...tsk, tsk... Now, if I could just find the original vinyl release....hmm...

Awesome cd! I thought it was Regan from the Exorcist on vocals! If you like Cold Grim Evil music it's a must!!

WARNING: the bass-levels in this album may injure small animals. Both the music and the sound-recording quality on this album are much heavier than many of the black metal albums I've heard. There are no 'melodies' on this album. There is nothing here but riff after riff of uncompromising evil and hatred and utter brutality, and yet in spite of this the music retains a ritualistic feel, probably because the incessant pounding of the drums (at constant Darkthrone speed) is so very vicious and warlike and fuckyou, and the vocals... Vocals on this album: you can hear the black, congealed blood dripping from this person's lower lip as he lays down one slavering chant after another (remember some of the sick-as-fuck vocals on 'Reek of Putrefaction'?), and they really do seem like ritualistic chants at times, probably because the atmosphere here is so consistently dark and warlike. Imagine if the Blasphemy vocal style, except the person here is apparently trying to do Blasphemy vocals and drink blood at the same time, because this just sounds fucking sick (but remains consistent throughout). No guitar solos, only two keyboards during song intros. Not sloppy at all, just raw, dark, and murderously black. All the instruments and vocals were created by founding Demoncy member Ixithra, and it's fucking killer.
