I write this review with a heavy heart. On a cold December day the greatest pioneer in the death metal world was taken from us. Chuck Schuldiner was a great man and a musical genius and he will be sorely missed. Starting this live Death experience with The Philosopher, one of the best Death songs, this dynamically brilliant band fronted by death metal founding father Chuck Schuldiner lay waste to any band on earth holding onto the notion that they can compare. The lineup featured on this live CD is the same as on The Sound of Perseverance CD. It features Chuck on guitar & vocals, Shannon Hamm on guitar, Scott Clendenin, from Chuck's other band Control Denied on bass and Richard Christy on drums. They cruise through newer tracks like "Scavenger of Human Sorrow" and "Spirit Crusher", and add a tighter sound and new flavor to classics like "Zombie Ritual" and "Pull the Plug". If you were never blessed by seeing Death perform live, I would suggest running out and buying this CD at once. Best wishes go out to Chuck's family and I, as well as the rest of the metal community will miss him like a friend and a brother. The metal world smiles upon you Chuck and we wish that you rest in peace
