Plaguewielder serves as indisputable proof that Darkthrone has, indeed, matured greatly. Amidst the seething fury of blast- beat technicality that is Plaugewielder, its at times easy to forget that the band is a decade and a half old. Plaugewielder is miles away from the grim majesty of the band's earlier works such as Under a Funeral Moon and Transilvanian Hunger, and its clear that the band have distanced themselves from the spotlight.
