After receiving noteworthy praise throughout the metal underground in response to Rusted Angel, the time has come for the band to unleash a new slab of metallic insanity titled… well, Insanity (licensed exclusively to Century Media Records for North American distribution)! The title is carefully carved out of the manic ideas collected during the long songwriting period taken to compose the album. The recording sessions, again at Studio Dug-Out with Bergstrand, were haunted by a slew of mysterious accidents causing delays. Darkane took this as a solid sign of approval from the forces below and the end result of this harsh process, Insanity, can only be described as a shocking piece of stun-gun metal, a Clockwork Orange-style therapy session that will fry your brains to a totalitarian crisp. Insanity marks the debut of new vocalist Andreas Sydow (replacing the departed Mackrory), who adds fresh throat-shredding skills to the band's trademark sound. The familiar Darkane ingredients are still present: a Swedish feel for strong melodies mixed with a violent undertow of powerhouse drumming, bold arrangements and loads of caustic guitars, all captured by a sterling production job courtesy of Bergstrand. The end result is a heavy-duty destructive power tool, a fully automatic crowd-control weapon, a supercharged maelstrom of terror tactics, the very sniper that aims to plant a dum-dum bullet in your aching head. Darkane's sound resembles all of these atrocities (yes, the power tools included!) and then some. Expect the unexpected, but expect to hear the most challenging and creative metal ever to grace one's auditory canals. Darkane represent the future of where extreme metal is heading, so hop on for the ride of your life that that time-traveling wuss Marty McFly would be frightened to embark upon.
