Corpsefucking Art-Splatter Deluxe
Comparisons have been made all over about these guys sounding like Mortician, and what do you know? They have covered Mortician songs in the past and one band member is even sporting a Mortician shirt on the inside sleeve picture. Despite the fact these guys do have a human drummer, and not a drum machine like Mortician does. Don't worry guys. (C.F.A the Influence has to come from somewhere). I will have to say that it is one of the better Mortician sounding bands that I have heard in a while.

I just got done saying in a previous review how cheesy it is to start your songs with some horror movie clip or whatever, and sure enough this one starts out the same way. I wonder how they thought of that one? The production on this I thought was horrible. It almost sounded like it was a record instead of a CD the way a needle scratches. I actually had to take the CD out of the stereo and put another one in to see if my stereo was blown or something. Thank god it wasn't-just another victim of good old shitty production. Everything sounds decent except that annoying crackle. It almost sounds like the engineer, while recording the band, decided to mike up a bowl of Rice Crispies and pour a gallon of milk over them. Definitely a mood killer for me. But despite the production flaws, this shit is pretty brutal. These are some angry young boys and it definitely comes across. But of course the whole vibe wears off when they keep doing something over and over again. It seems like I keep hearing reoccurring riffs throughout the disk. On the title track, "Splatter Deluxe," track three, they actually kicked back and got in a groove and it sounded good. I found myself tapping my foot through the whole song. Another highpoint on the disk for me was "Dawsons Crypt," track eight. The vocals on this are the way down guttural-you know the one-where the dude almost oinks like a pig when he sings. Track 12 is a Deicide cover, "Oblivious to Evil," so that scores points with me and probably will with a lot of other people, too. I definitely hope their next album has a little better sound to it production wise. I have heard a lot worse than this. but when the production bites, it's just bad for everyone, especially the listener. Nobody wants to pay for a shitty sounding disk. Maybe next time. I give this one 2 out of 5 - http://www.abrasiverock.com/
