When someone after more than 15 years doing music, pissed off by all the shit in the scene by all the trends, by the prostitution of the scene in favour of a "commercial way of life" decides to strike for last, they do it hard. This is probably (even being a 2002 new release) the greates record ignored by everyone. And let me tell you that's what they want. CENOTAPH used to be in ther arly days (demos and 7 inches) a brutak death/grind in the vein of early swedish CARNAGE/NIHILIST/CREMATORY (not the german one!!) They soon evolved into an, again swedish kind of band (2nd and 3rd CD in the vein of AT THE GATES/DISSECTION/DARK TRANQUILLITY). So for this 4th strike, they mixed the styles of their career and added an intense thrash to it all. The result ? Their best release!!! Probably a HELL OF A RELEASE. The production sounds like what eraly KREATOR did with in their "Pleasure to kill" (well, same producer here). And even if it is not the so "Polished, pretty chunky" production, it rages. Imagine a mix of old CARNAGE, add some AT THE GATES and a heavy does of DARK ANGEL. Now, at last, do add a lot of pissed off attitude, and a farewell album where you say "Fuck you all who destroyed thge magic, hail to those dark of heart" and you got it. This will be a cult release in a few years. Trust me, I have been buying metal more than 18 years ago, and I feel the same as these guys. Essential.
