One of thee best BM releases of the year i have to say! wow!!! This cd will blow you away,and is certainly a good indication as to what HellCommander NATTEFROST was planning for his solo album "BLOOD AND VOMIT". ....it took me a while to get around to buying "Defending...." but boy am i glad i did, because the wait was definitely worthit. It may take an aquired taste (w/time) to get used to Carpathian Forest's particular brand of BM, but once their venemous fangs sink into you ear-drums you'll be satisfactorally hooked. This is what BM should sound like, war-like anti-christian subversive fuck-you attitude that a lot of BM is missing currently, no wussyness....just straight to the point. NATTEFROST's vox are exemplary,Kobro's drumming is fantastic, Tchort has some great guitar sounds and Vrangsinn holds down the fort in the bass dept. The only annoying thing i have to say about the disc is the song "The Old Haunted House On The Hill" which is boringly mid-paced w/ cheesy keyboards coming off like the clowns in ICP,whom i utterly despise! The last track is "Cold Murderous Music", which as usual is always their signature wierd ending track, this one's got an electronic pulse to it with programmed sounding drums and some bizzarely porno-flick sounding "have sex with your girlfriend while listenning to this" saxaphone playing, but suprisingly hypnotic! The last time (an prob. the only other time!)i remember hearing saxaphones in BM was on a NECROMANTIA cd! The rest of the cd is top-notch,excellent BM the way it should sound. The artwork and booklet photos are excellent with some awesome corpse-paint pictures of each member of the band plus lyrics. You have to admire their uniquely twisted sense of humour as well.Some of the best trax are "Spill the Blood of the lamb", "Christian Incoherant Drivel" and "Put To Sleep like a Sick Animal". "The Ten Commandments Of Carpathian Forest" are listed in the middle pages, you'll just have to buy the cd to find out what they are...Hail CARPATHIANFUCKFEST and NATTEFROST forever!!!!TRUE MISANTHROPIC ANTI-christian BLACK METAL!

Dont worry the keys dont reek of dimmu borgir's fairy majestics or little dinky solo's. But instead they took samples from a choir and layered them throughout the blasting of metal...
