The darkened mask awakens spirits of majestic origin, as horns trumpet and sorrowful synths sigh. Mauro Berchi, curator of Italy´s Eibon records, heads the melancholic, doom-laden Canaan, adding his resigned, though effective, English and Italian vocals to the Canaan instrumental repertoire of crisp, finger-picked guitar, mournful synths and wistful strings. -J.C.
