Ok First i want to state to the idiot who cant tell the difference between Killjoy and Frediablo, GORELORD is Frediablo, who is now an Ex member of Wurdulak (he played guitar)

this dvd is on its way to me, so i'll see it soon, as for the comment on gorelord being black metal, incorrect again, its classed as death metal, but both bands are S**t hot, so this dvd i can tell you now is worth it so if you like these bands buy it now or i'll slaughter your ass's

I would bet my last penny that when Killjoy got into music, he thought to himself: "Self, I'm not happy with one band, I'm not happy with two. I'm going to make it my goal to play in dozens of bands, if that's all right by you!". Hey, that rhymed! Seriously though, I think the last time I counted Killjoy had been involved in at least seven or eight bands, probably more! Cool thing is, most of them are good to great bands, so I'm not complaining. What I have spent the last few hours watching is a split DVD called "Drunk, Damned & Decayed" that features two of Killjoy's bands, Gorelord and Wurdulak. One band falls into the "I like them" category, the other is one of Killjoy's few "bad" bands.

First, let's get the video and music portion of the DVD out of the way. The Gorelord songs are total raw and crazy Black Metal, and quite honestly I don't like them too much. They're too unstructured for my tastes and Killjoy has done a lot better on vocals in his other bands. The production is decent, even played through a TV, but I just don't like the style. The one saving aspect of Gorelord's music is the drumming which is phenomenal, but the rest of it is rather ho-hum. The video portion of the Wurdulak portion of the DVD is okay, but nothing spectacular. The first video shows various quick shots of horror movie memorabilia, various booze bottles and whatnot. The second video has footage from a short horror movie called Butcher Bob, and is a lot better and more interesting. I would go into detail about what Butcher Bob is here, but I'll comment more on that later.

Unlike Gorelord, Wurdulak's music kicks all kinds of ass! This band has Killjoy, Iscariah (ex-Immortal) and the mighty Maniac as well! That's right, the Maniac! Anyway, I love Wurdulak's music because it is a perfect blend of Black Metal and Thrash. The musicianship is razor-sharp, precise and catchy as hell. Honestly, I never heard Wurdulak's music before getting this DVD in to review, but I definitely like it enough to buy an album or two of theirs right away. The music is just well structured and executed well, a stark contrast to Gorelord's music. The Wurdulak videos are better as well filled with bloody anti-Christian imagery and the last video which basically just shows a camera panning all over one of the Wurdulak C.D. covers and lyric sheets. It sounds simple, and is, but it is pretty cool. Especially since this second song of theirs is not Metal, but some odd horror movie-esque soundscape with just keyboards playing and whispers for vocals.

The best aspect of this DVD though has got to be the bonus features that are included. There's a lot of them too! The DVD is one hundred minutes long, but the videos only take up maybe twenty minutes of that running time. The rest of the DVD is loaded with kick ass bonus features. There are behind the scenes features from both bands. Here you will find footage of the bands in the studio, taking photo shoots, drinking at parties and all kinds of other things that quite honestly had me rolling on the floor with laughter. One of the funniest things on the DVD is the guys in the band screwing with Iscariah when he's drunk and passed out on the floor. They put all kinds of shit on him, shove some kind of toy dinosaur up his nose and whatever else they can think of to humiliate him. At one point someone comes out with an Immortal C.D. and points to Iscariah on the cover all corpse-painted up and looking evil. The guy says "There's Iscariah. The man, the legend", then the camera pans to Iscariah passed out with the shit all over him making him look like he's fallen from grace. Hahahaha, it's just funny as hell! Another great part is a little short movie made by Killjoy and Frediablo. The entire movie is just them masturbating whenever they see anything related to horror movies. Seeing Killjoy masturbate over The Evil Dead DVD is pure hilarity!

One of the biggest surprises on the DVD was the inclusion of an entire short horror film called Butcher Bob. This is the movie the Gorelord video I talked about earlier is based on. Butcher Bob was created by Norwegian film maker Fred (Bjorn) Prytz in 1999. It is a very low budget movie, but it still kicks more ass than most of the "horror" movies that come out today. The actors speak Norwegian, but there are English subtitles. The video quality is quite bad, but it's cool in that it gives the movie a late 70's early 80's horror movie look. And the thing I like most about the movie is that it's gory as hell, and there's no fading out of the cameras when the gory scenes take place. Nope, you get to see the arterial fluids fly in all their glory! People get rammed through with sticks, pissed on, disemboweled with chainsaw, cut in half with hand saws, and more! If you're into true horror movies at all, you'll find this little gem worth the price of the DVD alone. There's even some behind the scene footage, if that's your thing.

The DVD itself is set up nice with easy to navigate interactive menus. The video and audio quality are superb, and the packaging is quite nice as well. The cover art has some dark Satanic imagery, and is done in a color scheme that reminds me of Slayer's "Reign In Blood" and "Hell Awaits".

In the end, Wurdulak kicked my ass and Gorelord... not so much. What you'll want this DVD for though are those bonus features. These bands seem to have a ton of fun, and quite honestly act like my buddies and I when we get together. Music is supposed to be fun and entertaining, and this is exactly what "Drunk, Damned & Decayed" offers!
