After a few minor setbacks, the first full length from Edmonton's Axis Of Advance is a slab of Kult Kanadian War Metal of the highest order. Featuring two members from the now defunct Sacramentary Abolishment (Vermin-bass/vocals and Wor-guitar/vocals) and J Read from Conqueror playing war hammers, indeed this is a band that has the experience to pave their own way within the realms of extreme metal. It seems to me that a lot of new bands these days lack two major areas: Conviction and Pride. It always adds an extra dimension to a release if you get the feeling that the band REALLY put their 'souls' into it so to speak. Brave enough to create their own sound, AoA are essentially War metal with traces of Black metal thrown in played with a 'pound your chest and declare you're a metal-head' kind of pride that few bands capture this day and age. If anyone out there is familiar with American act Arghoslent, these guys play a similar style albeit a 'blacker' version BUT 'hey, that's good, right??' All of the songs are top notch but I personally find tracks 'Evanescent Judgement Of The Last Era' and 'Structural Interpretation Via Superfluous Union' to best represent
the originality and overall quality of this band. Leading the charge for Albertan extreme metal along side with Dead Jesus, Darkness Eternal, Ourobouros and freshly re-formed Thorazine, it's only a matter of time before Underground metal fans around the world will soon be hearing about the 'Deadmonton scene'!!!! Buy this cd and support the scene, my minions............I can think of few cd's worth buying before this one.
