Absentia Lunae makes music I would describe as avant-garde black metal or just as original black metal. It cannot remember hearing anything like this, except for the 'Heart Of The Ages' album by In The Woods… although Absentia Lunae is much more extreme. They succeed in mixing unsuspected influences thus creating something new. Complex song structures consisting of raw, fast black metal and depressive and strangely hypnotic yet melodious intermezzo's garnished with distant, very distorted vocals and occasionally some clean vocals. The musicians are talented and the band is tight. The only real flaw of this album is the production especially of the guitars which isn't up to standards and prevents this album of getting a really high score. But beneath the abrasive veneer lies a musical gem yet undiscovered by any label. You must hear it to believe it. - Lords of Metal.
