This is the debut album of Ab:Norm, an original German extreme metal band dealing with grindcore and death metal, but without sounding like any typical style pre-established. But what attracts more attention at the first sight is the presence of vocalist Felix Stass, better known for his work with the legendary gothic metallers from the same country, Crematory. As you may know, Crematory was recenty disbanded, and it seems that Ab:Norm is now is main project. You won't see any resemblance between Ab:Norm and Crematory. Ab:Norm is a modern metal band dealing with extreme metal, as mentioned in a original way. It's translated by excellent bass lines in charge of Michael Heinrich, and a guitar work of guitar, blending velocity with groove, by Martin Weissenberger. But the drummer Gianne Cutrona should also be highlighted, by his extreme hability on double drums. And, of course, the presence of Felix, who here sounds dirtier than everything he recorded in his goth past. As new for death/grindcore genre, we can mention the several rhythm changes, although the overal; work in "In$ide" is simple and direct, and the album clocks on 35 minutes of pure brutality, in which the unique moments of rest for your ears happen in 3 little intro songs based in somber Posted by Carlos Afonso on 2001-05-31, Rating: 9.0.
